Abstract
|
|
|
The hypereosinophilic syndrome represents a heterogeneous group of disorders with
common features of prolonged eosinophilia of an undetectable cause and organ system
dysfunction.
Initial reports indicated a uniformly grave prognosis tut recent observations suggest a
more favorable outcome in certain cases.
Nowadays authorities recommend chemotherapy which lowers the eosinophil counts,
and aggressive medical and surgical approaches to cardiovascular complications.
We report a case of hypereosinophilic syndrome which met the diagnostic criteria
proposed by Chusid in 1975 and showed partial response to prednisone therapy.
